The Bendi evolves

Huge space saving advantages, coupled with a price comparable with contemporary reach trucks, saw the Bendi achieve considerable sales success in its first few years. During this period, we saw an increasing acceptance and understanding of the concept of a single articulated truck performing two or even three distinct roles, also adding to the popularity of the Bendi. However, designer Freddy Brown saw opportunities for further enhancements to the design which would improve ease of operation and stability and over the past two decades Bendi have received numerous coveted awards

  • 1989 Bendi awarded DTI smart award for Innovation stage 1
  • 1990 Bendi awarded DTI Smart award for Innovation stage 2
  • 1990 Bendi received first place in the Toshiba ‘Year of Invention’ competition
  • 1991 was the year, in which Translift Engineering was granted a patent, protecting the unique design concept of the Bendi. .
  • 1995 the company introduced the first gas powered Bendi to complement its growing range of electric trucks
  • 1996 DTI Achievement in Industry award
  • Throughout the 1990’s, the Bendi design was subject to further upgrades and enhancements, to improve performance and meet changing demands and legislation
  • 2002 Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) Lifetime Achievement, Freddy Brown
  • 2003 UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) Chairman’s Award, in recognition of the outstanding achievements of Freddy Brown
  • 2003 UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) Technology Innovation Award, celebrating more innovative features of the Bendi range
  • 2003 Queens Award for Innovation
  • 2003 Bendi introduced two significant changes to their range which included 220 degree “over rotation” and a slimmer front axle that was available in either 3 or 4 wheels design.
  • 2005 Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) Technology Award, recognising the innovative and cutting edge features of the Bendi 3 series
  • 2008 AC power across the Bendi range
  • 2010 launch five new models at IMHX which includes Mini Bendi, pedestrian articulated truck
